Trailer sadness

I tend to read all about the movies that are coming out and watch the trailers, but hardly ever see the movies themselves. Kids, work, blah. Just watched the trailer for Thor. Looks like a nice two hour chunk of mindless entertainment. If I had two hours to kill, and Lev was up for it, I would totally go see it. The only problem? Natalie Portman is in it, and I kind of hate her "acting". Then watched another trailer - Cowboys and Aliens. Looks pretty awesome. Another potential two hours of mindless entertainment, and this one might even have a sense of humor to it, plus an original idea. Oh, and I *know* Lev would enjoy it. The only problem? Olivia Wilde is in it, and I hated her on House (back when I watched House). Damn, why did they have to pick these particular gals to play the love interests in these particular movies?!

After musing on this fascinating topic, I realized that when I watched the Green Lantern trailer recently, I liked everything (particularly Ryan Reynolds!) - except Blake Lively as the love interest. As far as I can tell, the gal can't act to save her life. Is there a pattern here or something?

I have, but I think I've been blocking it out. :(

Oh, come on! Dumas is probably jumping up and down in his grave. :)

Jumping up and down? Or maybe rolling over? The sad thing is, I have such a deep sentimental attachment to this book, that I want to see this thing regardless of how they messed with it.

From what I've read about him, I'm pretty sure he'd be jumping up and down. :)

> I have such a deep sentimental attachment to this book

I have too. :) In fact, I've just re-read for the umpteenth time.

PS. Don't tell me you don't like the Russian 1979 adaption. :) It's also pretty loose...

Are you kidding?! It's THE movie of my childhood! And that's exactly my reasoning for *maybe* watching this one: if that cheesy adaptation made me so happy, surely I can handle a few flying ships or what not.

See, that's exactly what I meant. :)

One or two of the "gals" can act. And then they go down in history as Great Actresses. These names I haven't even heard of (sept for Portman, only due to her being in Star Wars). Just concentrate on the plot, dammit! :)

Well, Cowboys and Aliens might actually have a plot to concentrate on. The other two are comic book movies, so - not so much (and I say it with love for comic book movies!).

I see about a movie a year :) and this year it happened to be the "Black Swan", which I didn't like at all. So I am as far from the Hollywood industry as you can be. I don't know anybody you mentioned except for Portman. And my favourite movie with her is "Leon the Killer", where she was 12, I believe ;)

Yikes. One movie a year, and you waste it on Black Swan? (Of course, if you had liked it, I would say "Yay, good for you!" :)) I think you should go out and see another one - a good one this time - and pretend like *that* was your movie this year. :)
